Details of the experience: 

  • Group: 1-8 people + 1 guide 
  • Duration of outings: approximately 6-8 hours. 
  • Distance: approximately 2-4 kilometers. 
  • Pace: Slow to moderate.  
  • Climate: The climate of Turbaco, Bolívar, and its surroundings is tropical, hot, and humid, with high temperatures and a slight feeling of coolness due to its moderate altitude compared to Cartagena. The average annual temperature ranges between 79°F and 82°F (26°C and 28°C), with highs reaching 31°C and lows around 23°C.
  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate. The terrain combines slight elevations and flat areas.

ITINERARY

12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Pickup, transfer, and arrival at Camelias Farm

Guests are picked up and transported via Route 90, enjoying the friendly atmosphere and connecting with the municipality of Turbaco.  

Check-in and settling in at Camelias Lodge 

Guests are usually welcomed by the Camelias host, who helps with luggage and equipment. At check-in, rooms have been thoroughly cleaned and prepared for occupancy. Guests also have the opportunity to settle in and relax in the kiosk attached to the lodge, where they can enjoy a coffee from the Sierra Nevada or other cold drinks such as soft drinks, beers, or spirits.   

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. | Sightseeing and photography trip near the Lodge

Accompanied by a specialized guide and the Camelias host, guests begin their photographic immersion by taking advantage of the perches, feeders, and waterers installed a few meters from the lodge, as well as nearby trails where it is possible to easily spot dozens of birds.  

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. | Dinner at Camelias

With prior notice, guests can order their desired dinner option from the Camelias menu.   

Rest 

After dinner, guests have the opportunity to stay in the Bohío or settle into their rooms to rest. The host will ask guests if they need to be woken up to get ready for departure the next day.  

4:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. | Preparation for departure

While guests get ready in their rooms, the Camelias team prepares a pre-breakfast and checks the list of essential items for departure.  

6 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. | Daytime photography outing

With the specialized guidance of Camelias, a daytime tour is conducted along different private trails in the tropical dry forest, in search of the species targeted by the guests.   

9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. | Typical breakfast

Enjoy a typical Caribbean breakfast. 

 

9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. | Guided trail sightseeing outing

We take an outing along different private trails in the tropical dry forest. 

11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. | Hydration and rest

Take a break at the Bohío and enjoy freshly prepared lemonade or orange juice made with fruit harvested from the farm's crops. 

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Lunch

You will sample the best of Caribbean cuisine with service that makes you feel right at home. 

2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. | Rest

At this point in the experience, guests have the option of taking a break at the Bohío, using our hammocks or rocking chairs, or deciding to rest in their rooms. Our staff is attentive to providing hot or cold beverages, or any additional requests guests may have during their break. 

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. | Sightseeing and photography outing near the Lodge

Accompanied by a specialized guide and the Camelias host, guests take advantage of the perches, feeders, and waterers installed a few meters from the lodge, as well as nearby trails where it is possible to easily spot dozens of birds in the company of their guide.  

6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. | Dinner

With prior notice, guests can order their desired dinner option from the Camelias menu.  

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | Night photography outing (optional)

With the specialized Camelias guide, a night tour is conducted in areas connected to the lodge, where night bird species and other animal species can be spotted. If guests have a special request on their sighting list, the outing can be extended until dawn, with the corresponding service charges.  

9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. | Rest

At this point in the experience, guests can take a break in the lodge lounge or in their rooms. Our staff is available to provide hot or cold beverages, or any other requests guests may have during their rest period. This service is available until 10:00 p.m.

In our cabin, you can enjoy a comfortable and peaceful stay surrounded by the natural beauty of the Colombian Caribbean. The cabin is strategically located for bird watching and hiking, and has all the amenities to make you feel at home. 

From the cabin, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and the birds flying overhead.
